With the theme of "Integrated application of PLM, System Engineering and Digital twin", 16th International Chinese Manufacturing Product Innovation Digitalization Summit was grandly opened last Wednesday in Jinling Garden Hotel, Suzhou.
As a professional forum with both scale and influence in the field of manufacturing R&D, the summit attracted more than 600 representatives from manufacturing enterprises and research institutes, as well as the leading IT vendors at home and abroad.

He said this year's trade friction and the COVID-19 epidemic have showed many flaws and insufficiency in manufacturing industry in terms of core technology, innovation ability and industry chain. To actively promote the deep integration of manufacturing industry with emerging information technologies, such as big data, industrial Internet and artificial intelligence and accelerate the transformation of manufacturing industry to be more digital, interconnected and intelligent is an effective way to hedge against the disappearance of demographic dividend and the industry relocation. It is also the only way to promote the transformation from manufacturing giant to manufacturing power.

Dr. Pei Huang, CEO of e-works shared the latest development and application trend of product innovation and digitalization, including the development trend of product innovation, the evolution, and the ten application hotspots of product innovation and digitalization. He also introduced some innovative applications of digital twin, digital thread, additive manufacturing and generative design, virtual reality and augmented reality, simulation, PLM and other technologies in leading enterprises at home and abroad. Pei emphasized that Chinese brand software is rising up and homemade industrial basic software is seeing its flourishing spring.

Feng Tian, Senior Vice President of PERA Global, described the solution for the plight of Chinese simulation industry. By reviewing the arduous journey of Chinese simulation, he summarized the "three difficulties" of Chinese simulation, the ice-breaking solutions, and the outlook for the future of simulation technology. In his opinion, the industrial characteristics in the cloud era manifest as the transformation from "product economy" where once products were for sale to "service economy" where now products are carriers of service. Technology as a service and opening service become the two major characteristics of the service economy.

Supervisor of Shanghai Jiaotong University mainly introduced intelligent manufacturing technology and equipment in aerospace and defense industry, including the development and present situation of intelligent manufacturing in aerospace and defense industry, requirements analysis on technology and equipment, and technical route and so on. He said that the overall goal of aerospace intelligent manufacturing is to enhance the core competitiveness and make China to be an aerospace powerhouse. By building first-class aerospace equipment products, China’s aerospace industry system will become "specialized, commercialized, large-scale and market-oriented."

He said that Yunjie CPLM has ten highlights, covering breakthroughs in business, innovation in technology, revolution in management and transformation in scale.

Situan Lin, Technology Center Director of Dongfeng Motor Group shared Dongfeng’s R&D digitalization and design platform and application scenarios of PLM. He pointed out that the concept of R&D digitalization is committed to creating a digital platform and application with extreme user experience to achieve intelligent R&D design, intelligent operation decision-making, and intelligent park management. Dongfeng’s PLM planning is implemented in three phases, the first mainly to build a basic platform, the second focuses on deepening functions and applications, and the third application expansion and deepening, so as to achieve full life cycle management, full value chain management and full coverage of product development.

Zhengping Zhang, CIO of Hengtong Group delivered a keynote speech of PLM system enabling IPD reform. He said that their R&D management has many problems and challenges in strategy execution, product realization, organizational assets and operational efficiency. Based on the vision of "innovation-led R&D strategy", Hengtong Group established R&D business standards through electronic business processes, accumulated the intellectual property through the establishment of product knowledge base, realized collaborative development and established a technology-and-market-oriented R&D system.
