Mercedes' China deliveries outpace the industry
STUTTGART -- Mercedes-Benz's China sales jumped 23 percent last month from a year earlier to 26,184 vehicles as the company easily outperformed industry sales.
In the first 11 months, the company's China sales rose 30 percent to 252,819.
With the end of the year approaching, Mercedes seems certain to remain China's No. 3 luxury brand, behind Audi and BMW. Mercedes' rivals have not yet announced November sales.
Mercedes is trying to expand its presence in China at both ends of the luxury spectrum.
At the entry level, Mercedes says China is the second-largest market for its Smart brand, which introduced the redesigned Smart ForTwo and ForFour in November.
And for the ultraluxury market, Mercedes unveiled the Mercedes-Maybach S600 flagship last month at the Guangzhou auto show.
