Nissan, Honda post higher deliveries
Nissan Motor Corp. and its local joint venture sold 106,100 automobiles in China in May, up 3 percent from a year earlier.
That follows a 15 percent year-on-year rise in April and a 26 percent increase in March.
Honda Motor Co.'s two Chinese joint ventures reported a sales increase of 11 percent in May to 60,269 units.
Nissan's sales in the first five months of the year came to about 507,700 vehicles, up 15.4 percent from the same period a year earlier.
Nissan, which operates a car venture in China with Dongfeng Motor Group Co Ltd, aims to sell 1.4 million cars in the country this year, up 11 percent from a year earlier.
Jun Seki, Nissan's senior vice president, said last month that the company aims to achieve annual China sales of 2 million cars by 2017 to 2018.
The company's sales in the first five months of the year came to 282,677 vehicles, up 11 percent from the same period a year earlier.
Meanwhile, Honda will double the number of car models it sells in China over the next two years to increase market share, Japan's Nikkei newspaper reported last month.
Honda, which operates car ventures in China with Dongfeng Motor Group Co. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., aims to sell 900,000 cars in the country this year, up 19 percent from a year earlier.
