ThyssenKrupp opens spring factory in Chengdu

German supplier ThyssenKrupp opened a factory in this southwest city to produce springs and stabilizers.

The plant will produce up to 3 million springs and 1.5 million stabilizers annually. ThyssenKrupp formed a 60-40 joint venture with China's Fawer Automotive Parts Ltd. to operate the plant.

The company invested 20 million euros (167 million yuan) in the factory, which employs 200 workers. The 14,000 square meter facility is ThyssenKrupp's first plant in western China.

ThyssenKrupp, in a statement, noted that it is building another factory that will produce cylinder heads.

Over the last two years, ThyssenKrupp has spent 250 million euros to build plants in China. The company currently has seven automotive component plants in China.
