BEIJING (AFX) - Nokia Corp's 2005 handset sales in China rose 72 pct year-on-year to 32.5 mln units, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
The Finland-based telecommunications firm's China sales for 2005 stood at 3.4 bln eur, the report said.
Xinhua added that handset exports from China rose by 15 pct to 2.87 bln eur.
The report cited the president of Nokia (China) Investment Co Ltd, He Qingyuan, as saying that Nokia held the largest market share in both China's handset and third generation (3G) mobile technology network equipment markets.
He did not provide figures for the firm's market share.
The report cited another Nokia official as saying that the firm plans to make greater inroads in music, games and enterprise solutions this year.
Xinhua said that this year Nokia released more than 30 new handset models in China, including six models operating on the CDMA standard.
The report added that Nokia saw its global marketshare for WCDMA terminals increase by more than 200 pct last year.
