Jianghuai Auto taps president to succeed chairman

Jianghuai Automobile Co. has named its president, An Jin, to succeed its longtime chairman, Zuo Yan'an.

Zuo retired this week at age 62. Jianghuai Auto, a state-owned Chinese light-vehicle maker, did not say who will succeed An, 54, as president.

During Zuo's 20-plus years as chairman, the company grew from a little-known producer of small trucks to China's 13th-largest manufacturer of light vehicles.

It also has become an exporter. Last March, Jianghuai Auto started shipping vehicles to Brazil, where it has sold 22,000 units.

Jianghuai Auto is in Hefei, in east China's Anhui province. In the first 11 months of 2011, the company's sales of trucks, buses, vans, MPVs and cars rose 9 percent to 402,088 units, according to LMC Automotive.
