Chery sets export record in July
WUHU -- Chery Automobile Co. exported a record 17,008 vehicles in July, as the company continued to expand sales in emerging markets such as Brazil.
In the first seven months of 2011, the Anhui province-based automaker exported 88,835 units, up 89 percent over the year-ago period, reported the state-owned Xinhua news service, citing a company spokesman.
Chery continues to expand overseas. The company has launched construction of a $400 million (2.6 billion yuan) assembly plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil, that initially will produce 50,000 units.
The plant will open in 2013, and annual production will subsequently rise to 150,000 units.
