Peugeot SXC concept previews 4007 replacement
PSA Peugeot Citroen's SXC crossover concept scheduled to debut this week at the Shanghai auto show -- offers a glimpse of the automaker's plans for a replacement of the 4007.
The four-wheel-drive hybrid concept was designed and built at Peugeot's studios in Shanghai. The SXC, at nearly 5 meters (16.4 feet) long and 1.6 meters high, is about the size of BMW's X5 SUV.
The SXC is powered by PSA's new HYbrid4 powertrain, which uses a gasoline engine to drive the front wheels and an electric motor to drive the rear wheels. The vehicle can be driven at low speeds solely on battery power.
PSA wants to secure 8 percent of the booming Chinese passenger car market by 2016, up from a 3.4 percent share in 2009.
