Geely to launch 8 new, upgraded models in '11
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group plans to launch sales of eight new and upgraded models this year to significantly increase its sales.
According to the company's Web site, Geely's Global Eagle brand will upgrade two sedans, and also introduce an SUV and MPV.
The Emgrand brand will launch an SUV, and the Enlon brand will roll out a new sedan, SUV and MPV.
Under Geely's brand strategy, Emgrand is intended for families, Global Eagle targets young people, and Englon markets mid-sized sedans for business use.
Zhejiang Geely also sells three compact cars under the Geely brand, but it will not introduce any new Geely models. The automaker plans to retain Geely only as a corporate name, and will phase out the Geely car brand out by the end of this year.
In 2010, Geely's sales rose 27 percent to 446,100 units, according to J.D. Power. The company, which acquired Sweden's Volvo Car Corp. last year, aims to increase its own-brand vehicle sales by 18.5 percent in 2011.
