Beijing Auto sales up 7.4% in January
Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co.'s January sales rose 7.4 percent year-on-year to 133,300 vehicles, Cai Business Indepth reported.
The state-owned automaker did not keep pace with industry sales, which rose 14 percent in January. Nevertheless, Beijing Auto has aggressive growth plans.
The company is constructing an assembly plant in Zengcheng in south China's Guangdong province.
Over the next three years, it plans to launch 20 new models with technologies bought from Saab and from a joint venture with American Motors Co. in the 1980s.
Beijing Auto also operates joint ventures with Daimler AG and Hyundai Motor Co. Beijing Auto and Hyundai are building a third assembly plant on the outskirts of Beijing.
