Renault-Nissan opens parts center in Shanghai

The Renault-Nissan alliance has opened a parts distribution center in Shanghai to serve the users of Renault and Nissan vehicles in China.

The 8,000-square-meter center stocks 3,000 parts for Renault vehicles and up to 10,000 components for Nissan vehicles.

These parts "virtually" cover all the vehicles Renault and Nissan sold in China, said Renault in a statement.

The warehouse is the alliance's first distribution center in China. The alliance also runs similar centers in Hungary, the United Kingdom and Russia, according to Renault.

Currently, Nissan builds most of its models in China. Lacking a Chinese assembly plant, Renault serves the world's largest market with imported vehicles.

Last year, Nissan sold 681,500 vehicles in China while Renault sold 14,200 vehicles, according to J.D. Power.
