Hon Hai Scores Sales Revenue of Over NT$250 B. in Sept.
With Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPad serving as strong revenue drives, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., the largest EMS provider in the world now, raked in revenue of NT$253.476 billion (US$8.25 billion) in September, growing 18% from August or 69.92% a year earlier to hit a new high.
The firm's aggregate sales revenue has exceeded NT$1.6 trillion (US$52 billion) in the past nine months of this year, growing 62.97% from the corresponding figure posted in the same period of 2009. Accordingly, institutional investors optimistically expected the firm to become Taiwan's first enterprise with full-year revenue of more than NT$2 trillion in 2010.
In addition to consumer electronics and PCs, Hon Hai spokesman Edmund Ding also attributed the banner revenue growth to iPhone and iPad. So far, the firm has stepped up in-house production integration, in a bid to scramble for more contract orders, especially those for the upcoming iPhone 5, from Apple. At present, Apple's newest iPad order has been confirmed to go to the firm.
As the most imperative contract manufacturer for Apple, Hon Hai has projected its annual shipment of iPhone, excluding the iPhone 5, at tens of millions of units at least, and that of iPad tablets at around 38 million units next year.
Institutional investors pointed out that Hon Hai's shining sales performance in September may reflect the fact that Taiwan's major electronic manufacturers, such as Quanta Computer Inc., Compal Electronics Inc. and Acer Inc., may have also enjoyed booming sales and shipments in the month, though the firms have yet to release their financial statements for the month.
