Chery's exports up 259% in May
China's leading private automaker, Chery Automobile Corporation Ltd. sold 8,053 motor vehicles abroad in May, a growth of 259 percent on the same month of last year, a company official said.
From January to May, Chery's exports amounted to 30,100 units, up 171 percent year on year.
According to Jin Yibo, assistant to the general manager of Chery Autuomobile, the company will shift its offshore focus from exports to direct manufacturing abroad.
By the end of 2009, the company, based in Wuhu, in east China's Anhui Province, had put 12 overseas bases into production. Three more will come on stream this year.
