China's non-state automaker produces 2 mln cars
Chery Auto, one of China's major non-state automakers, had its 2 millionth car roll off the line Friday (March 26) morning. It was the nation's first self-owned auto brand with output hitting the 2-million mark.
Based in Wuhu of eastern China's Anhui Province, Chery Auto produced its first car on Dec.18,1999. It took the company more than seven years to produce 1 million vehicles, but only two and a half years to double the production.
The company has joined the "two million club"in China, following Shanghai Volkswagen, FAW Volkswagen, Shanghai GM and Guangzhou Honda.
Chery Auto sold 500,000 motor vehicles in 2009, and 70,000 in January 2010.
It sells products to 80-plus countries and regions all over the world.
