BYD says may set up sales HQ, factory in U.S.
Chinese car and battery maker BYD Co could set up sales headquarters and a production plant in the United States, its chairman said, as it embarks on an aggressive expansion plan.
"If there is a market, we will not exclude the chance to set up a production plant in the United States," Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD and China's richest man, told reporters on Monday.
BYD, 9.89 percent owned by U.S. billionaire Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, sold 450,000 cars in 2009, an increase of 1.7 times, and has said it aims to nearly double sales to 800,000 units this year.
