Delcam Opens 5th China Office in Shenzhen

This latest expansion represents a further increase in the company’s commitment to the Chinese market.

BIRMINGHAM, UK,?August 1, 2005 - Delcam has opened a new office in Shenzhen to provide additional technical support for its customers and resellers in Guangdong Province, Hainan Province, Hong Kong and Macau. The Shenzhen office is the fifth to be operated by Delcam in China; the others are based in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Xi’an. This latest expansion represents a further increase in the company’s commitment to the Chinese market.

Southern China, and Guangdong Province in particular, is seeing rapid growth in its manufacturing industry. The plastics sector is especially strong and the region already one of the world’s largest centres for mouldmaking. Given the strength of Delcam’s software for mould design and manufacture, it is not surprising that the company is well represented in the area. The company formed its Delcam Hong Kong joint venture several years ago and is also represented by a successful reseller Guangzhou Dekang. In addition, Delcam Taiwan runs an office in Guangdong to handle sales to the many Taiwanese firms that have established companies on the mainland.

The strong economy has contributed to significant increases in Delcam sales in the region. These grew by around 50% in 2004 compared to 2003, and are up a further 20% in the early part of this year. Customers include both the local plants of international corporations such as Mattel and Matsushita Electric, as well as leading Chinese companies like Chi Wo Plastic Moulds, Luneshing Tools and Guangzhou Massjet.

“The new office in Shenzhen will help us to provide better support to our customers, both those in the toolmaking sector and also those from the region’s other key industries, including footwear and toy manufacture,” explained Business Development Manager Joe Zhou. “It will work closely with our existing sales channel to promote our design and machining software and also look to recruit additional specialist resellers for our ArtCAM software for the woodworking and jewellery industries and our PowerINSPECT inspection system.”
