China’s 5G to reach pre-commercial standard: MIIT
“China’s 5G research and development efforts have entered a key phase of standards-setting, laying a solid foundation for further tests,” Zhang Feng, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MITT), told a press conference in Beijing.
The international standards organization 3GPP will approve the first international standardization of 5G in June this year, according to MITT.
“China encourages domestic enterprises as well as foreign ones to participate in relevant research and tests in order to better guide the rapid and steady development of 5G,” Zhang said.
In terms of international cooperation, China upholds the concept of openness, inclusiveness, cooperation, and win-win. “We hope that there will be ‘one world, one standard’ on 5G,” Zhang added.
China has made breakthroughs on a batch of major projects in 2017, including 5G technology, according to Miao Wei, the Minister of Industry and Information Technology.
