China's largest sugar manufacturing base sees rising output in 2017
South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, China's largest sugar manufacturing base, saw output of sugar production rise in 2017.
Production reached 5.8 million tons, up 9.5 percent year-on-year. The annual income of the region's sugarcane growers increased 15.3 percent to 24.8 billion yuan ($3.9 billion).
Guangxi provides about 60 percent of the country's sucrose production and has more than 20 million sugarcane growers.
The region will allocate 17 billion yuan from 2014 to 2019 to grow 330,000 hectares of high-yield sugarcane.
