SAIC, GAC report robust volume for proprietary brands
Proprietary brands of two major state-owned automakers, SAIC Motor Corp. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., have maintained strong sales on demand for crossovers and SUVs.
In August, combined sales of SAIC’s Roewe and MG brands surged 50 percent year on year to 40,668 vehicles. Likewise, deliveries of GAC’s Trumpchi brand jumped 33 percent to 40,192 vehicles.
The automakers’ brands enjoyed strong demand for crossovers and SUVs.
Aggregate sales of the Roewe RX5 compact crossover and the MG ZS subcompact crossover totaled 27,654 vehicles, accounting for 68 percent of sales for Roewe and MG.
For the first eight months, SAIC’s two brands doubled their combined sales year on year to 311,358 vehicles.
For GAC’s Trumpchi, the GS4 compact crossover and the GS8 SUV generated combined deliveries of 34,877 vehicles, representing 87 percent of the brand’s sales.
For the year to date, Trumpchi sales surged 50 percent year on year to 330,035 vehicles.
