China to build 800,000 EV charging points in 2017
China will install 800,000 recharging units for electric vehicles this year to accommodate the nation's growing EV fleet, the Xinhua news service reported, citing the National Energy Administration.
The expansion of the nation's public recharging network calls for 100,000 new public charging units to supplement the current network of 150,000 units.
According to Xinhua, China has installed fast-charging stations along 14,000 kilometers of highways at intervals of 49 kilometers.
The state-owned news service adds that Beijing and Shanghai have the most complete charging networks, with public sites within 5 kilometers in all areas.
Guangzhou and Shenzhen are still working to expand their networks, Xinhua noted.
