Preholiday buying eases dealership inventories in January
Dealership inventories across China dipped to an average 30-day supply of vehicles in January from 31 days in December.
The slight decline was due to strong car buying before the weeklong Lunar New Year holiday that began on Feb. 8, said the China Automobile Dealers Association.
Last month, inventories of domestic Chinese brands dropped to 35 days from 37 days in the previous month.
Stockpiles of foreign-brand vehicles built in China eased to a 25-day supply from 26 days in December.
But inventories of imported vehicles edged up to 47 days from 46 days in December.
January was the second consecutive month in which no brand reported an inventory backlog of more than two months, according to the association.
