28th ICSE to be held in Shanghai
The 28th International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) will be held in China's financial and business hub of Shanghai during May 20-28
ICSE 2006, the first time it has been held in a developing country, will focus on topics including "optimization of software development" and "subjects of future software industry".
Themed as "China's software industry integrates into the world", the conference will provide a platform for researchers, practitioners and educators worldwide to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and concerns in the field of software engineering.
More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the 43 symposiums, workshops and expositions in the high-level conference, said a source in ICSE 2006's organizing committee.
By late April, over 611 people from 49 countries had registered to attend the meeting, with nearly half coming from the United States, Germany and Britain.
Experts believe the conference will help to facilitate the exchanges and cooperation between China's software industry and advanced software industries worldwide, and boost self-innovation in China's software industry.
ICSE, the premier software engineering conference, was initiated in 1975 by the Association for Computing Machinery and the Computer Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
