?BEIJING (AFX) - China's gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to rise 9.6 pct this year and the consumer price index (CPI) is likely to grow two pct, the official Xinhua news agency reported, citing a report of the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS).
The report also forecast that China's fixed assets investment (FAI) would reach 10.79 trln yuan this year.
The National Bureau of Statistics announced last week that China's economy grew at a relatively rapid rate of 10.2 pct in the first quarter, compared with 9.9 pct a year earlier.
CPI rose 1.2 pct in the first three month of 2006.
China posted 27.7 pct growth in FAI in the first quarter of 2006, up 4.9 percentage points on the same period a year ago, the NBS said.
Last year China's FAI reached 8.86 trln yuan, up 25.7 pct on a yearly basis.
In March, China's central government set an annual economic growth target of eight pct, and a CPI forecast of about three pct.
