New forums take place in 11th CAEXPO

Focusing on the key areas in China-ASEAN cooperation, the 11th CAEXPO plans to organize 21 forums to broaden such cooperation in a comprehensive way. The forums on e-commerce, industry and commerce, cyber space and police cooperation are the four newcomers in this year's CAEXPO.

The 11th CAEXPO will hold series forums featuring transportation, port, finance, science and technology, environmental protection, education and culture. The forums include the China-ASEAN Police Cooperation Forum, the seventh China-ASEAN Think Tank Strategic Dialogue, the ninth China-ASEAN Cultural Forum, the China-ASEAN Chief Justices Forum, the second China-ASEAN Forum on Technology Transfer and Innovation, the 2014 China-ASEAN E-Commerce Forum, the 2014 China-ASEAN Industry and Commerce Forum, the sixth China-ASEAN Summit Forum on Financial Cooperation and Development, the China-ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Forum (2014), the first China-ASEAN Cyber Space Forum, the fourth China-ASEAN Logistics Cooperation Forum and the fourth China-ASEAN Forum on Stomatology.

According to the Information Office of the Guangxi Business Department, the 2014 China-ASEAN E-Commerce Forum under the topics of "cross-border e-commerce, digital city and Internet economic trends" will invite e-commerce leaders, such as Alibaba, JD and ShangPin, and renowned companies, such as Wal-Mart, China South City and Suning, for high-end dialogue and interaction. Serving as a top platform for global company participation in the China-ASEAN e-commerce project and service cooperation, the 2014 China-ASEAN E-Commerce Forum aims at promoting e-commerce as a new area, engine and highlight in the development of bilateral trade.

Under the theme of "registration system reform and cooperation of registered capital," the 2014 China-ASEAN Industry and Commerce Forum would introduce the reform on China's registered capital system so as to expand exchange and cooperation with ASEAN counterparts and promote investment facilitation and trade liberation for both sides.

The first China-ASEAN Cyber Space Forum chooses "development and cooperation" as the theme of the event. In-depth discussion will be held with regard to Internet economic development &international cooperation, cyber security, cyber governance and Internet infrastructure construction. The forum will function as an important exchange and cooperation platform on the building of new gateways and hubs of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The sixth China-ASEAN Summit Forum on Financial Cooperation &Development will be held in Nanning on September 17, 2014. Representatives from China's banking industry and ASEAN financial institutions will attend the forum and join in the discussion under the theme of "innovation on cross-border RMB service." Five banner-unveiling ceremonies would be organized during the forum: the launch of the Bank of China Cross-Border RMB Index, the Currency Note Trading Ceremony of Cambodian Riel, the launch of the Agricultural Bank of China Vietnamese Dong Trading Index, Agricultural Bank of China's new currency exchange service (Thailand baht, Malaysia ringgit, Vietnamese dong, Philippine peso, Indonesian rupiah, Laos kip, Myanmar kyat and Cambodian riel), and the Industrial &Commerce Bank of China Cross-Border RMB Service Center (Nanning). The forum will further promote China-ASEAN financial cooperation and bring vitality to "monetary circulation" along the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century.

The China-ASEAN Police Cooperation Forum aims to discuss the relevant mechanisms on cracking down international crime and exchanging police information. With reference to the advanced concepts of international policing, the forum will improve China’s modern policing mechanism.

Over 280 high-level conferences, forums and exchange activities have been held over the past decade since the launch of the CAEXPO. Government officials, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars attended the events and have offered their valuable suggestions on dealing with various problems and establishing relevant system. A series of cooperation mechanism were set up through the discussion. These events have given full play to the function of the "Nanning Channel" and provided mechanism support to comprehensive, long-lasting, steady and friendly relations between China and the ASEAN.
