Prices of domestically built light vehicles fall
Prices of light vehicles made in China declined in April as automakers maintained aggressive production schedules, China's National Development and Reform Commission reported.
The average price of sedans built in China last month dipped 1.2 percent year-on-year, while prices of domestically produced SUVs decreased 1.5 percent.
The average price of microvans assembled in China dropped 1.8 percent from a year earlier.
In April, average prices of imported SUVs declined 4.3 percent from a year earlier. But the price of imported sedans rose 4.1 percent, according to the commission.
The commission is a government agency that monitors prices of various industrial products.
Despite soft prices, automakers expanded output.
In April, light-vehicle production in China surged 11 percent year-on-year to nearly 1.7 million units. In the first four months, light-vehicle output rose 10 percent to 6.5 million units, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
