VW group sales in China rise 17% in first four months
Volkswagen AG says sales of its various brands in China rose 17 percent in the first four months to 1.19 million units, as the German automaker remained in a neck-and-neck sales race with General Motors.
For the same period, General Motors sold 1,197,375 units.
Within VW's portfolio of brands, Audi AG remained on top of the luxury sector. In the first four months, Audi sales rose 20 percent to 169,736 units, maintaining its edge over BMW and Mercedes.
Porsche sales rose 12 percent, and Skoda sales
In April, Skoda sales increased 7.6 percent to 21,900 vehicles. VW's Czech subsidiary did not indicate its China sales for the first four months.
