BEIJING, March 29 -- China has initiated a wind energy development summit, analyzing the problems confronted by wind farms and the manufacturing of wind power generation equipment.
????The two-day Chinese Wind Energy Industry Development Summit, which began in Beijing on Tuesday, has brought together top representatives of some 260 enterprises from home and abroad.
????Leading Chinese enterprises, including Hisense and New-way Group, are participating in the summit to share their experiences in developing advanced generation equipment with independent innovation and intellectual property rights.
????Business representatives will also discuss the new wind energy industry regulations as well as grasp opportunities for development under the new legal framework.
????Since China's Renewable Energy Law came into effect on January 1, 2006, the wind energy industry has encountered an unprecedented development opportunity to tap into a large potential market.
????However, low technical levels have obstructed the progress of China's wind energy industry. Experts believe that Chinese enterprises need to focus on the urgent problem of how to develop products, which incorporate original intellectual property under the new legal framework. Chinese enterprises should also integrate, they say, to compete with international enterprises in the wind power market.
????The summit is co-sponsored by the Chinese Wind Energy Association and “Science and Technology in China” magazine. Officials and experts from the National Development and Reform Commission along with the Ministry of Science and Technology are expected to address the summit.
