Ford China sales jump 47% in November

Ford Motor Co. says China sales jumped 47 percent year-on-year to 99,157 units in November as deliveries of the Focus compact sedan remained strong.

The automaker also unveiled the re-designed Mustang last week in Shanghai, Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Detroit and Barcelona. Ford says its iconic sports car will go on sale in China sometime in 2015.

The Mustang is part of Ford's plan to introduce 15 models to China by 2015.

Ford's passenger car joint venture, Changan Ford, sold 72,432 vehicles last month, up 44 percent year-on-year. Changan Ford produces and sells Ford's lineup of sedans and SUVs.

The automaker's commercial truck joint venture, Jiangling Motors Corp., reported a November sales increase of 46 percent to 23,294 vehicles. Jiangling Motors produces and sells the Ford Transit commercial van.

For the first 11 months of the year, Ford sales have risen 51 percent to 840,975 units. The U.S. automaker's biggest seller is the Focus, with 350,000 deliveries in China this year.

Ford also has gotten a lift from the Mondeo mid-sized sedan, with 30,000 units sold since it was introduced in China in August.
