Emerging Display Technologies Adopts PTC Product Development System
the leader in the visual display market with ISO certified manufacturing facilities, is adopting the PTC Product Development System including Pro/ENGINEER(R), Windchill PDMLink(TM), Windchill ProjectLink(TM) and Pro/INTRALINK(R).
EDT required a system that could offer external communications with customers, improve the quality control of product development and provide collaborative design without the associated risks. After a complete evaluation of leading PLM providers, EDT chose PTC. EDT based their selection on PTC's ability to supply them with an end-to-end, integral PLM solution that offers advanced functionality and top-notch professional services. EDT plans to finalize the implementation by May 31, 2007 and estimates that PTC solutions will lead to a 20% decrease in new product development time as well as an aggregate savings of US$625,000 every year .
"PTC offers an optimized Product Development System to help integrate distributed resources and form a strong platform for collaboration into the supply chain," said Shun-Ju Chuang, CIO, EDT. "The powerful combination of Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill will give us the ability to involve customers early in product planning exercises in order to clarify product requirements. We believe the system will help us bring products to market more quickly and control overall development costs and related expenses."
"The integrated design and technical development of an LCD module relies heavily on an integrated supply chain system that can offer valuable product components. PTC has created highly efficient process distribution management and cost control that optimizes manufacturing operations in order to satisfy the various product development requirements," said Chad Hawkinson, director of electronics and high tech marketing and strategy, PTC. "With the help of PTC solutions, EDT is able to focus on the development of core capabilities while initiating new product research in the future that will help fuel their growth in the highly competitive electronics industry."
