MAN Diesel & Turbo standardises on AVEVA software for Integrated Engineering & Design
AVEVA announced today that MAN Diesel & Turbo has successfully completed the implementation of AVEVA's Integrated Engineering & Design solutions. The implementation, which started late in 2012, followed a competitive bid process and comprised a range of products including AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Diagrams and AVEVA Global.
This implementation offers a fully integrated solution that enables the standardisation of 2D and 3D engineering applications across all disciplines within MAN Diesel & Turbo's Power Plant business unit. AVEVA's Integrated Engineering & Design approach helps companies like MAN Diesel & Turbo to achieve shorter schedules and lower project costs, which substantially increases their competitive advantage. MAN Diesel & Turbo has implemented the products simultaneously in India and Germany.
“We launched an internal project, called PIPE which stands for Programme for Integrated Power Engineering, to target the optimisation of our engineering processes,” said Michael Franke, Head of Power Engineering, MAN Diesel & Turbo. “This programme addresses a number of market challenges, including the need to remain competitive through clearly defined, measurable and integrated processes across basic and detailed engineering. The engineering applications we were using had not kept pace with our changing needs so we were pleased to see that AVEVA could offer a practical and scalable suite of integrated products. The software will help us to cut project times and enable us to achieve substantial cost savings on our initial deployments.”
“MAN Diesel & Turbo has found in AVEVA a strategic engineering software partner that supports our business across Turbo Machinery and Power. After the successful implementation of AVEVA's integrated engineering platform in the Power business unit, the AVEVA applications will now be a strategic IT-tool for Plant Design for MDT worldwide,” adds John Hoffmann Frederiksen, Head of Engineering IT Solutions, MAN Diesel & Turbo Group IT.
“Working with MAN Diesel & Turbo has once again illustrated AVEVA's ability to rapidly deliver a fully configured implementation, ready to go onto live projects”, said Helmut Schuller, Executive Vice President - EMEA, AVEVA. “Rapid configuration and deployment of our Integrated Engineering & Design applications is a major differentiator between AVEVA and our competitors. We were able to offer MAN Diesel & Turbo a low-risk implementation that gave them total confidence in the AVEVA approach. I am very pleased to say that the PIPE Project Managers, Moritz Dyroff and Johann Cohut of MAN Diesel & Turbo, will be sharing their positive experiences with our technology at this year's AVEVA World Summit in Boston at the end of October.”
AVEVA's Integrated Engineering & Design approach improves project efficiency and reduces engineering and design costs by offering complementary products that draw on common processes, disciplines and deliverables, through a single managed information model.
