Honeywell expects turbocharger demand in China to double by 2018
U.S. supplier Honeywell International Inc. predicts that annual demand for turbochargers in China will reach 10 million units by 2018, doubling the current level.
To expand its share of the market, Honeywell plans to launch 25 turbocharger applications on average each year, the company said.
It also plans to introduce in China its variable nozzle turbochargers, which are mainly used in SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
Honeywell estimates that up to 22 percent of the vehicles in China are turbocharged.
Turbochargers enable gasoline engines to increase energy efficiency by as much as 20 percent. They can also help diesel engines improve energy efficiency by a maximum of 40 percent, according to Honeywell.
