Nemak launches 2nd engine component plant
Nemak, a Mexican supplier of engine blocks, has opened a second factory in China to supply Changan Ford and other customers, reports IHS Supplier Business, citing the Xinhua news agency.
The new facility, in Chongqing, will produce engine blocks and cylinder heads. Production will begin in September, according to IHS.
Nemak Chongqing Automotive Components has invested $120 million in the facility. The plant will employ 600 workers and generate annual sales of 1 billion yuan.
Nemak is a subsidiary of Mexico's Alfa Group, an industrial conglomerate. The company's first Chinese plant, located in Nanjing, produces cylinder heads and engine blocks, according to IHS.
