According to the draft program of national economic and social development for the 2006 to 2010 period, China will build four major pipe-lines for oil and natural gas supplies in the next five years. The truck lines include two for petroleum supplies, one from the west to the east and the other between north and south. The country will also build a second west-east natural gas pipe-line and another one for oil and natural gas import into the country's inland areas. It was reported that China will develop its oil and natural gas transmission network in the next 5 years to offset the energy disadvantage of some areas caused by unbalanced geographical distribution.
