IBM and Dassault Systems announced that Shunde Special Transformer Works,China's leading manufacturer of dry-type transformers and urban electrical network equipment, has chosen their PLM Solutions
BEIJING AND PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 19-02-2004 -- IBM and Dassault Systems (NASDAQ: DASTY) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today announced that Shunde Special Transformer Works (SUNTEN), China's leading manufacturer of dry-type transformers and urban electrical network equipment, has chosen their Product Lifecycle Management Solutions (PLM).
SUNTEN will deploy SMARTEAM, the award-winning, Web-based product data and lifecycle management solution developed by Dassault Systèmes and sold by IBM, to better manage and collaborate on product information throughout the enterprise. SUNTEN specializes in large-scale electric equipment for prestigious projects including the Three Gorges Hydro-electric Power project, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Subway, and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
"To deliver superior products and win new contracts, we need a powerful and easy-to-implement product data management system," said Yang Jian, executive vice-president, SUNTEN. "SMARTEAM's Workflow and Bill of Materials (BOM) modules will enable us to streamline our business processes through automated workflow and BOM management, and better connect our people with product information and processes. SMARTEAM will be integrated with our ERP system in order to leverage existing resources to further improve productivity."
The SMARTEAM solution will help SUNTEN to build an enterprise-wide PLM system that will enable development, marketing, and sales teams to collaborate on and manage its technology data and drawings. By controlling product data in a paperless web-based environment, SUNTEN will have rapid access to its existing production information, leading to improved product quality, reduced development costs, and shortened time to market.
"As SUNTEN's business grows, the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of design data plays an increasingly important role in improving our enterprise's productivity," said Yang "The implementation of SMARTEAM solutions will help us to increase the level of information shared, and the way it is transmitted. This will boost the standardization of parts and enable product information management throughout the entire development lifecycle."
"One of the most important keys to success in business today is innovation," said Bernard Charles, president and CEO, Dassault Systèmes. "To implement sound strategies for innovation, successful companies require lean business processes and effective tools for sharing and managing centralized product information. This is what SMARTEAM delivers to companies such as SUNTEN -- simple-to-use, time-saving tools for product information management and collaboration around streamlined processes so that the real focus of business is innovation."
"Today's announcement with SUNTEN is testimony to IBM's commitment to growing markets to drive business innovation and deliver relevant business solutions to our clients. With IBM PLM Solutions, manufacturers can make better use of product development resources to become more competitive. IBM will help SUNTEN focus on growth by giving them the means to extract greater value from data, streamline product development and innovation and improve customer service through collaboration. That's what IBM PLM is all about," said Beaver Chang, Manager of PLM solutions, IBM China.
IBM PLM Solutions, based on applications developed Dassault Systèmes, improve the efficiency of product development processes and a company's ability to use product-related information. By better managing the entire product development process, manufacturing companies can improve productivity, innovate and grow their business.
