Denso to expand, relocate Shanghai tech center
Denso Corp. plans to expand and move its Shanghai Technical Center to support the company's business growth in China.
The new center is to start operation in June 2013, the Japanese auto parts supplier said in a statement.
The expanded center will hire as many as 500 people, more than doubling the current work force, and receive investment of some 7.2 billion yen (562.7 million yuan) by the end of its fiscal year ending March 2014.
In addition to designing more products locally, the new center will add large test facilities including a wind tunnel to improve product design and development capability.
Denso has 22 plants in China making products such as automotive air-conditioning systems, engine control components, fuel injection components, alternators, starters and car navigation systems.
It also has a software company in Shanghai that develops products mainly for car navigation systems.
