Bentley names first regional head in China
Volkswagen AG's Bentley brand has appointed its first regional director for China, a sign of the market's growing importance for the ultraluxury brand.
Bentley's new China chief is Till Sheer, who joined the brand from Volkswagen Hong Kong, where he was responsible for the VW and Bugatti brands.
Sheer, 46, is a German who worked in sales, business planning and brand management within the German operations of Renault SA and Fiat S.p.A. He joined Volkswagen Group in 2003.
In 2008, he moved to Hong Kong and established VW's regional import operations.
China is Bentley's second-largest market, after the United States. The brand's vehicle sales in China last year nearly doubled to 1,839 units. Bentley's 2011 global sales rose 37 percent to 7,003 units.
