Chevrolet Malibu goes on sale in China
Chevrolet's 552 franchised dealerships in China last week started taking orders for the Malibu mid-sized sedan, marking the first time the Malibu has been sold in China.
The vehicle is built by Shanghai General Motors Co., General Motors' joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
The Chinese Malibu offers a choice of two gasoline engines, 2.0 liters and 2.4 liters. Prices range from 162,900 yuan ($25,835) to 199,900 yuan.
Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
In China, Shanghai GM also sells the Epica, Cruze, New Sail, Lova, Aveo, Spark and Captiva. Of these, only the Captiva is an import.
Last year, Shanghai GM sold 555,991 Chevrolets in China, up 17.9 percent, according to the company.
