Kia aims to boost its 2012 China sales by 12%
Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Kia Motors Co.'s Chinese joint venture, is targeting sales of 480,000 vehicles in 2012, up 11.6 percent from last year.
The company will boost production by scheduling overtime at its two assembly plants.
In 2011, Dongfeng Yueda Kia sold 432,518 vehicles, up 29 percent year-on-year.
Dongfeng Yueda Kia, established in 2001, is a 25-25-50 joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corp., Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co. and Kia.
The plants are located in the east China city of Yancheng with a combined annual capacity of 430,000 units.
Dongfeng Yueda Kia is now seeking approval from the Chinese government to build a third plant in Yancheng.
