Geely taps Emgrand brand chief as CEO
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. last week named An Conghui its CEO and president.
An, 41, received the promotion for his "outstanding contribution" as Geely's vice president overseeing the company's Emgrand-brand product line and powertrain plant, the Chinese automaker said in a statement.
The Emgrand-badged vehicles are mid-sized cars for business and family use.
Geely has launched two models under the Emgrand brand in the past two years, the EC7 and the EC8. Sales of the two models reached 102,246 units in the first 11 months of this year, up 62 percent year-on-year, according to LMC Automotive.
Currently, Geely is upgrading its technology with a six-speed automatic transmission developed in-house.
An joined Geely in 1996 after graduating from university.
Geely's previous president, Yang Jian, has been made the company's vice chairman.
Geely's chairman is Li Shufu, who has also been chairman of Volvo Car Corp. since Geely acquired the Swedish brand in 2010 from Ford Motor Co.
