Taiwan Glass opens 572M yuan plant in east China
Taiwan Glass Industrial Corp., a major Taiwanese glass manufacturer, opened a $90 million (572 million yuan) glass plant in Yancheng in east China's Jiangsu province.
The plant will supply auto manufacturers in east China, including Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Dongfeng Yulon Motor Co. and Jianghuai Automobile Co., according to the Yancheng government.
Dongfeng Yueda Kia is Kia Motors' joint venture with China's Dongfeng Motor Corp. Dongfeng Yulon is a joint venture between Dongfeng and Taiwan's Yulon Motor Co. Jianghuai is a state-owned Chinese automaker.
The Yancheng plant is Taiwan Glass's first automotive glass production facility in mainland China. It can produce up to 300,000 sets of automotive glass a year.
In Taiwan, Taiwan Glass mainly produces automotive glass for export to Japanese brands including Mazda, Subaru, Isuzu and Suzuki.
