VW brand sales in China rise 6.7% in November
China sales of Volkswagen brand vehicles rose 6.7 percent to 160,000 units year-on-year in November, as VW Group's top brand continued to outperform overall industry sales.
VW remained China's most popular brand, although General Motors' joint-venture brands collectively outsold VW Group's brands.
As of October, China's top-selling brands were VW, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai and Buick, according to LMC Automotive.
In the first 11 months of 2011, VW brand sales totaled 1,610,000 units, up from 1,450,000 units a year earlier.
VW's joint ventures operate nine assembly plants in China. To boost production, the German automaker is building four more plants, in Foshan, Urumqi, Ningbo and Yizheng.
