Denso to relocate Guangzhou plant to larger site
Guangzhou Denso Co. says it will relocate its factory in Guangzhou to a larger site in the city in 2013.
The Japanese supplier is moving its plant, which produces air conditioning systems, condensers and radiators, at the request of the Chinese government.
Denso will invest $81 million (6.3 billion yuan) in the new factory, which will be 1.4 times larger than the one it replaces. The new facility will employ 1,050 workers, up from 900.
Guangzhou Denso is a 60-40 joint venture between Denso (China) Investment Co. and Guangzhou Automobile Group Component Co.
The venture expects to generate sales of $579 million (3.7 billion yuan) in fiscal 2015.
Denso produces automotive air conditioner components in nine Chinese factories. In December, it will launch a new air conditioner factory in Changchun.
