Chinese Guangdong commodities fair to be held in Myanmar's Yangon

China Guangdong Commodities Fair will be held at the Tatmadaw Hall in Myanmar's Yangon early next month aimed at further expanding Guangdong province's bilateral economic and trade cooperation with Myanmar, an organizer of the fair told Xinhua at a press conference held at the office of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) Friday.

The press conference was given by China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corp with Li Dewei, vice general manager of the company and U Zaw Min Win, vice-chairman of UMFCCI delivering speeches.

Li Dewei said that as China's open economy province, Guangdong has always attached great importance to trade and economic cooperation with Myanmar, adding that the fair is one of the five most important overseas hosted projects of Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province.

Organized by China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corp. and N.M.T Ltd.(International Relocation and Logistics), the three-day exhibition is to run from Dec. 1 to Dec. 3.

Agriculture, machinery and vehicle, hardware, building materials, bathroom products, electronic products, household appliances and consumer goods will be displayed with 77 booths by 64 exhibitors from six cities of Guangdong province covering Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan and Jiangmen.

Meanwhile, the bilateral trade between Guangdong province and Myanmar is growing rapidly with investment, contracting and labor cooperation improving step by step.

The Guangdong-Myanmar bilateral trade totaled 430 million U.S dollars in 2010, up 71.8 percent from 2009, according to Guangdong official statistics..

Of the total, Guangdong's export to Myanmar took over 250 million U.S. dollars, up 74.2 percent, while Guangdong's import from Myanmar represented over 170 million, also up 68.6 percent correspondingly.
