Iran to purchase 13 MD90s from China

LONDON, January 9 (IranMania) - Recent negotiations over purchase of MD90 passenger airliner from China seem to be finalized and Iran Tour of Iran is initially going to equip its air fleet with 13 of them currently serving in Chinese air transportation sector, an informed source announced, according to MNA.
The source also stipulated that the aircrafts are no more than 5-6 years old and enjoy low fuel consumption. Moreover, the MD90, with capacity of carrying 172 passengers and seven crew, is an ideal carrier for domestic flights.?

The MD90 was officially introduced to air carrier business back in 1995 and is equipped with two V2500 class jets. The average airspeed stands at 812 km/h and it may take off with maximum 22,104 liters fuel. The consumption rate of this midrange bird is set at 2.7 tons per hour at full load.
Currently, China, Saudi Arabia, the U.S., Japan and the Scandinavian countries are in the possession of 118 MD90s.
