VW group sales rose 15% in first 10 months
Volkswagen AG says its group sales in China rose nearly 15 percent to 1.9 million units through October, outperforming a lackluster market in which industry sales of light vehicles rose 6 percent.
The German automaker did not provide overall group sales for the month of October.
But Audi AG earlier reported that its October sales jumped 62 percent to 27,729 units as China's luxury segment continued to outperform the overall market.
And Skoda, VW's Czech subsidiary, said October sales in China rose 14 percent year-on-year to 20,900 units.
Volkswagen has plans to expand its brand lineup in China. VW displayed the Seat Leon and Ibiza at the Shanghai auto show last April, and the German automaker reportedly plans to launch production of Seat models in 2013.
