China Power said the rise in power generation was mainly due to the newly acquired Shantou I Power Plant, which contributed 21% of the company's 2005 electricity generation, an increase in installed capacity and the improved reliability of its generating units after technical upgrades and an overhaul in the first half.
In the fourth quarter, China Power generated 6.2 million MWh of electricity, up 13.26% from 5.5 million MWh a year earlier.
China Power, which supplies electricity to eastern China, said it has a total generation capacity of 4,255 megawatts, including from plants it doesn't wholly own.
Many Hong Kong-listed Chinese power producers are expected to report increased electricity generation for 2005 on strong demand for energy and contribution from new units, analysts said.
