Taiwanese Contract Suppliers Ride Ultrabook PC Wave
With globally leading PC brands continually launching Ultrabook laptops, Taiwanese contract makers of PCs are expected to profit from such wave in the near future.
Intel confirmed that HP, Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Toshiba will launch over seven models of Ultrabook laptops by the end of this year, with Acer's Aspire S3 and Asus's UX series already being sold in several countries already.
With brands adopting different sized displays and various hard drives and processors, product diversity, Intel said, will increase to sustain market growth, while the market may take off starting in the first half of 2012 when more players will join the competition.
Institutional investors are also optimistic about market prospects, pointing out that some Taiwanese manufacturers of key PC parts will surely share the business to fuel sales in the short term. For example the battery pack supplier Dynapack International Technology Corp. has confirmed it is exploring new customers and markets, including Ultrabook PCs, for sustainable development.
Buoyed by growing popularity of PCDs (portable communication devices), the company reported combined revenue of NT$2.472 billion for September, up 9.3% from NT$2.26 billion posted a month ago to hit a single-month high for the third consecutive month. The banner performance is expected to be further fueled by the upcoming Ultrabook boom.
Shin Zu Shing Co., Ltd., maker of laptop hinges, will also likely prioritize Ultrabook PCs, noted institutional investors, saying the Ultrabook boom will help to revive at least temporarily lukewarm demand over the past months, boosting the company's revenue and shipment in the short term.
