Audi, BMW boost China sales in September
Audi AG said China sales in September jumped 33 percent year-on-year to 29,500 units -- an indication that China's luxury market continues to outperform mass-market segments.
Audi said sales of two imported models, the Q7 SUV and extended-wheelbase A8L, were especially strong. Overall, Audi's import sales soared 77 percent in September.
Meanwhile, BMW AG said China sales rose 21 percent year-on-year in September to 18,588 units, maintaining its status as China's second largest luxury brand.
Last week, Daimler AG announced September sales of 15,272 units, up 12.7 percent year-on-year.
In recent months, all three German automakers have propped up sales with generous sales incentives.
According to Bloomberg News, BMW's Beijing dealerships are offering 19 percent discounts on the 3-series sedan, while some Mercedes dealers are offering a 20 percent markdown on the C-class Elegance.
