Chery's exports surge 84% in August
Chery Automobile Co., China's largest passenger vehicle exporter, said it sold 19,017 vehicles overseas in August, rising nearly 84 percent from a year earlier.
That brings the company's total vehicle exports in the first eight months to 107,851 units, up 88 percent year-on-year.
The Chery Tiggo SUV has accounted for 40 percent of Chery's exports so far, overtaking the Chery QQ microcar to become its leading export model.
Its other main export products are the Chery micro car as well as the Fulwin 2 and A3 compact sedans.
Chery has established more than 10 complete knock-down (CKD) plants in other countries. This year, products assembled by the plants have constituted more than 70 percent of its total exports, according to the Anhui province-based automaker.
This year, Brazil has replaced Russia as Chery's largest export market. Its other major export markets include Russia, the Ukraine, Iran and Egypt.
