BAK Battery signs EV alliance with Taiwan carmaker Yulon
China BAK Battery Inc. says it has signed a strategic agreement with a subsidiary of Taiwanese automaker Yulon Group to develop batteries for electric vehicles.
In June, BAK began supplying batteries to the subsidiary, dubbed HAITEC, to power EVs built by Dongfeng Yulon for public transportation in the city of Hangzhou in eastern China.
Meanwhile, BAK says it will continue to develop lithium batteries for other possible customers in its plant in Tianjin.
HAITEC, or the Hua-chuang Automobile Information Technical Center, has developed a 240-hp electric drive that can power sedans, multipurpose vehicles, SUVs and small and medium-sized buses.
BAK, of Shenzhen, makes lithium batteries for EVs, power tools, computers, cell phones and other consumer products. It has factories in Shenzhen and Tianjin.
